Sunrider Among Elite CompaniesRe-post: Sunrider® International World News

The highly anticipated launch of the book, Malaysia’s Most Outstanding Retailer-Chains “50 Success Stories,”was held December 12, 2011, at the Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa, in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. The undertaking of the book project was spearheaded by the MRCA (Malaysia Retailer-Chains Association) and began in early November 2010. Sunrider and its founders, Drs. Tei-Fu & Oi-Lin Chen, are featured in the book as one of the “50 Success Stories.” The 50 companies included in the book merited selection for being instrumental in the development of the retail chain business in Malaysia and abroad.

The beautifully designed publication serves as a guide to the “who’s who” in the retail and service industry. It also provides the opportunity for the public, corporate, and even tertiary education students to refer to it as research material. This project also kick started the MRCA Foundation, which is a vehicle to support various educational and charitable causes.

Although Sunrider is a relatively new player in the franchise industry, switching its business model in Malaysia from direct selling to franchising in 2009, the company has already been recognized by the MRCA with two prestigious industry awards: the “Achiever’s Award 2010” and the “Global Growth Award—Silver 2011.” These accolades honored Sunrider for excellence and distinction within the retail chain industry, as well as “tremendous growth and global expansion.”

The guest of honor for the event was Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department. In front of the more than 1,000 dinner guests, he expressed how impressed he was by the achievements of each of the 50 corporations showcased in the MRCA book. Sunrider’s guests for the occasion were top Business Leaders and media partners from Sin Chew Daily, the country’s bestselling Chinese newspaper, and three magazines, Feminine, Nona, and Franchise Asia.

The book was officially launched in dramatic fashion, with the Minister breaking away ice that encased the book. This was followed by the presentation of the book to representatives of each of the “50 Success Stories.” Good food, great entertainment, and interesting company made for a most enjoyable evening. Congratulations to Sunrider and the other awardees that have contributed so much to the dynamic growth and success of the retail business, both in Malaysia and abroad.
